About the role

We are looking for a mid-level Software Engineer to join our agile team and help us to develop our digital transformation goals and support with new products for our fast-paced retail business.

As we look to try and engage and excite our customers more, you will be a part of a passionate, skilled and experienced team. Working across the breadth of Bravissimo applications, you will contribute towards supporting areas such as product, customer acquisition, ordering and fulfilment.

You can expect to use technologies like JavaScript (React & Angular), Node.js and SQL Server. The work is both technical and creative in nature and requires a blend of backend and frontend skills, but with a heavy focus on the backend. We embrace a DevOps philosophy, using tools such as GitLab, Docker and Kubernetes.

You will get involved across the full lifecycle of our projects - design, implementation, testing, release, support and ongoing enhancements. You will have a real voice to contribute your ideas and innovation to create growth and opportunity within the business.

We are open-minded and forward-looking, evaluating the best tool or technology for the job. We share insights on new technologies, approaches to delivery or specific code we’ve seen, and we’re enthusiastic and passionate about the field we work in.

About you

You’ll be a competent and self-motivated software engineer, able to prove your skills and provide examples of applications you've contributed to; any retail experience would be of interest.

Preferably, you’ll have experience with the following:

· JavaScript (Angular and React)

· SQL Server

· Node.js

· Typescript

· CSS

· Cloud Database Technologies

· API Design & Implementation

· Domain-Driven design

Don’t worry if you don’t tick every single box - we don’t expect you to know all the technologies we use. What really matters is your ability to understand concepts quickly, work with fresh ideas in an agile environment and contribute as appropriate.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about technology, hungry to learn with us and keen to share your findings internally and with the wider development community.

You will have a logical mind and good attention to detail, able to craft a polished product from design concepts provided.

As a good communicator, you'll be keen to get involved in discussions and debates and express your own views. Whenever you see room for improvement you won't be afraid to speak up, you'll readily ask questions and understand how to use a variety of resources (e.g. Google/StackOverflow) to help provide solutions. You will have your ear to the ground of the development community, keeping abreast of what’s going on.

Whilst your skills and experience are of interest to us, your mindset, understanding of our business purpose and learning agility are of equal importance.
