What is a balcony bra?
A balcony bra - or balconette bra - is a popular everyday style for those of us blessed with big boobs as it offers great support and creates an uplifted, rounded shape that works for many different boob sizes and shapes. A balconette bra offers good coverage but has less ‘all-over’ coverage than a full cup bra, so it works well under lower-cut neckline. The straps join at the side of the cup rather than the centre, so they tend to be a little wider-set. A balconette bra is a great all-rounder to have in your bra-drobe so there’s no surprise it’s our bestselling shape!
Are balconette bras good for large breasts?
The short answer is YES! Balconette bras are a great option for those of us blessed with big boobs as they offer support, coverage and work well with most outfits – tick, tick, tick! At Bravissimo, we offer so many different balconette styles in D-L cup, so you’ll be sure to find one that works well for you. Some balconette styles have stretch lace in the top cup which moulds to your unique shape, so it’s great for those of us with one boob bigger than the other (which is most of us!) and other balconette styles have more rigid fabric which offer even more support.
How should a balconette bra fit?
Balconette bras tend to have wider straps so sit further apart on your shoulders and lift from the bottom of the cup to create an uplifted, fuller shape. There’s a few things to look for to know if your balconette bra is fitting you well (and it’s really easy once you know what to look for!). The underband should be firm but comfortable, the wires should lie flat against your chest and your boobs should be fully enclosed in the cups. You can read more about this in our bra fitting guide and if you ever have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to get in touch – we love to help you feel confident and amazing!
What do you wear with a balconette bra?
Balconette bras work well with so many different outfits, so the honest answer is you can wear pretty much anything you want that makes you feel confident and amazing! A balconette bra has less coverage than a full cup style, so they are a good match for lower-cut tops and dresses and they also work well with high necklines as they give great support and a rounded, uplifted shape. If you’ve got a wide-neck top and don’t want your bra straps to show, try a balconette style - the straps are wider set, so you can say goodbye to straps peeking out of your tops – hooray!
