What is a strapless bra?
Our guide to finding the right strapless bra for you! We’re often asked if bras without straps are suitable for women with bigger boobs and the answer is YES! Being a Bravissimo girl doesn’t mean you’re restricted to bras with thick straps (and outfits that cover them!) – we can have the freedom to wear whatever we want and feel secure. Read on to find out more about our collection of strapless and multiway bras and discover that no outfit is off-limits!
How are strapless bras supposed to fit?
If you're unsure of how to wear a strapless bra they fit in the same way as a regular bra, so a good place to start is your normal bra size – if you’re not sure if your bra is fitting well you can check with our size guide. A good fitting strapless bra should fit firmly around the back, so it can give the support that we Bravissimo girls look for (and to stop your strapless bra from falling down!) but it should be comfortable.
If you usually wear your bra a little looser around the back, you might need to go down a back size in a strapless bra (remember to go up a cup letter to keep the volume the same!), or if you find a strapless bra too tight in the back, you can try a back size bigger and a cup size smaller. If you need any more help with finding the best size for you, our fitters are on-hand to help you find a strapless bra that fits you really well!
How to choose the right strapless bra?
We're often asked "what is the best strapless bra for D cup boobs and above? There are different types of strapless and multiway bras to choose from and we’re here to help you navigate the choice. Finding the right strapless bra for you depends on your unique shape and which style you feel confident and amazing in!
Super supportive Luxe by Curvy Kate is our best-selling strapless style. It comes in sizes 28DD – 40J and it works under lots of outfits. With lightly padded cups, it gives a rounded shape as well as plenty of uplift and support and it comes with detachable straps, so you also have the option to wear it as multiway too – yay!
If you’re planning to wear your strapless bra under lower-cut outfits, try the Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless Bra. There’s hand-shaped moulding in the cups which really holds you up (up, up!) and it has a low centre front, so it’s a great option for plunging necklines.

For figure-hugging clothes, try a moulded style like Fantasie Aura Strapless Bra or Panache Porcelain Elan Strapless Bra. Both will give a super smooth silhouette and disappear under close-fitting tops and dresses – a-bra-cada-bra!
Not all of us ‘fit the mould’! Try the Panache Evie Strapless Bra for a strapless bra without moulded cups. The cups are lined with cotton, so it keeps you cool and comfortable as well as secure!
What outfits go well with strapless bra?
At Bravissimo, we believe that no outfit should be limited by your bra straps! Strapless and multiway bras are great for dresses and tops that are off-the-shoulder, one shoulder…or have no shoulders at all!
You can wear a strapless bra under a Bardot dress or a spaghetti strap top and feel secure and supported without a bra strap in sight! If you’re looking for a bra to wear under a racer-back or cross-back top, a multiway bra is a great option, as you can wear the straps crossed over at the back. You can even wear a strapless bra under backless outfits by using a low back converter.

How does a strapless bras work?
Most of a bra’s support comes from the backband – not the straps - which is why it’s important to make sure the backband fits you well. The key to a strapless bra staying up is a firm backband (no one wants to be pulling their bra up every five minutes!). Strapless bras tend to have a wider backband to spread the weight of your boobs around your body and some have silicone dots or seams to make extra sure that they don’t fall down. Clever cup construction helps to provide support without straps. Many strapless bras have moulded and slightly padded cups which help to keep you feeling secure, but you can get strapless bras without moulded cups which have cleverly-placed seams which give support and uplift too.
How to use multiway bra?
A multiway bra is a bra with detachable straps that you can wear in lots of different ways to get the look – and support – that you’re looking for. You can wear a multiway bra with one, two or no straps at all, and the possibilities don’t stop there! You can cross the straps at the front or back and even attach them together at the back for a halter look. Many of the strapless bras in our collection also work as multiway bras as they come with detachable straps…we love to give you options!
